Welcome to my website which I hope will give you a little more of an insight into where I'm up to, and how I got here!  Please explore the site and, if you'd like to keep up to date with my latest news, you can always follow me on social media.

When I was 16 years old, I took my first job in the Public Affairs Department of Shell International Petroleum on London’s South Bank. I enjoyed my two years within the Petroleum industry but then progressed to the publicity department of prominent book publisher Michael Joseph, which meant a move to London’s West End. My two years there culminated in a promotion to Assistant Publicity Manager of their sister publishing house, Pelham Books.

From there my move into the world of advertising seemed a natural one. I began as an Account Executive for the agency’s regional clients, overseeing above and below the line campaigns, and settled in easily and with great success. Having married I left that job to have my first child, after which I returned to college, and stumbled into voiceover work for a local radio station. I’d always wanted to work in radio or on TV, and so this gave me a great opportunity and within two weeks, I was co-presenting the mid-morning show for Beacon Radio in the West Midlands, a job I held for several years.

From there I shifted job and County and had a fabulous three years with BBC Radio Shropshire where I researched, produced and presented my daily two hour afternoon show. It gave me sufficient confidence to audition for my first TV job on This Morning, and following a successful audition, over the following four years I was the regular anchor on ITV’s flagship daytime show whenever Richard and Judy were absent. Staying with Granada, I worked for their independent channels too, and presented six of my own shows on subjects as diverse as Stately Homes, fashion, cooking and health. My experience with Granada led to several years working as a reporter on BBC 1's Watchdog Value for Money series, and also their highly successful Holiday Programme.

I continued to work within the broadcasting industry, writing for and contributing to existing shows, such as Channel 4's Dispatches. I also became involved in formulating programme ideas for TV and I have written storylines, and scriptwritten for BBC 1's TV series Doctors, and successfully placed a TV drama with Sally Head Productions Ltd. I have recently completed writing a six episode returnable TV series, and also a prime time two hour drama for TV. A play for Radio is in the offing too. If you are interested in any of these projects, please contact me.

Regular work for me now is with QVC the Shopping Channel, where I present and sell many things, including beauty products, electronics, jewellery and fashion.

I am married, have three grown up children and one granddaughter, and whenever we can, we spend as much time together as possible. I enjoy reading, visiting the theatre, eating out, and relaxing - preferably somewhere warm and sunny! For exercise, I try to walk at least three times a week, and have just taken up Pilates.

The Holiday Programme

I began my TV career with Granada Television, co-hosting their live flagship daytime show This Morning. Their format was the perfect learning ground for me, and taught me all I needed to know about live studio practice, discipline and working to time.

Over the years I have presented live studio based shows, location shoots, outside broadcasts, and pre recorded studio and location programmes. I have worked in the USA, France, Italy and Hong Kong ... in stately homes, sewage works, hotels and hospitals! I love the live aspect of my job, and pride myself on keeping to time, taking direction and having up to eight voices in my ear – on one occasion only four of them English! But pre-recorded shows are also fun, and through the Watchdog Value for Money series, I not only got to see a great deal of the British Isles, but also to work with my children which was challenging but great fun. In fact it was with my youngest son that I travelled to Brittany for the BBC's Holiday Programme, and was delighted to see that even at six years old, Jack had the same desire as I did to get it right!

My current job with QVC, the UK's leading Shopping Channel is possibly one of my most challenging. Broadcasting live for 17 hours a day, it requires boundless energy, enthusiasm and the ability to retain and impart information on a myriad of products.

As with most TV presenters, I have had my fair share of corporate work, including new store information for Marks and Spencer, and safety films for Lloyds Bank and British Steel.

My details, should you be interested, or if you'd like to speak with me, are on the Contact page.

My first voice-over was for Berlei Bras – as a robot – which made me believe that if I could do that, I could do anything! Described as 'friendly yet informative' my voice can be heard giving emergency announcements on mainline London railway stations, as well as the DLR. I have voiced the Johnson Controls/Alpine satellite navigation system which is found in both Honda and Jaguar cars. I have also had great success with many radio commercials for various companies including British Gas, The Halifax, Sainsburys and Thomson Holidays. I’ve also more recently explored the world of talking books.

Working for the country's largest shopping channel means having a career in retail but on TV. I have learned so much over the years, discovered many incredible products, and met some wonderful people. It is challenging and interesting, tiring yet exhilarating, LIVE and unlike other TV shows, there is no autocue. Your words have to be original and informative! You have to give of yourself, engage with an unseen customer who will trust you to sell them things they can't physically get their hands on. You need to have the ability to retain information and facts, cope with talkback, hit targets, and stay calm even when things don't always go according to plan!
